Prophylaxis (prevention)

With thorough dental care, backed up by adequate prevention, we can ensure that diseases such as caries and periodontitis never have a chance to develop. Our preventive service includes treatment such as professional tooth cleaning.

By brushing your teeth regularly and correctly with a fluoridated toothpaste after meals, or at least after breakfast and dinner, you can do so much for the health of your teeth and gums. But despite thorough care, plaque almost always remains on your teeth in hard-to-reach areas. We can provide professional tooth cleaning and other preventive treatment at regular agreed intervals.

Preventive services include:

  • Advice on optimal dental care
  • Professional tooth cleaning
  • Compatible dental prosthesis
  • Individually tailored services
  • Reminder service for appointments

We offer our patients a reminder system so that you don’t forget your regular check-up. This means that we send you a letter in good time reminding you when your next appointment should be. Please let us know if you’d like to register for this service.

Professional dental cleaning

During professional tooth cleaning, your dentist will remove all soft and hard bacterial plaque from the tooth surfaces, thereby helping to prevent tooth decay and periodontitis. Professional tooth cleaning begins with a thorough examination of your teeth. Then the tooth surfaces, the interdental spaces and any gum pockets are meticulously cleaned with ultrasound, special tools and dental floss.

If you have discolouration caused by coffee, tea or cigarettes, this can be removed in several stages using polishing pastes. Your teeth are then polished to a high gloss and the tooth surfaces are coated with a fluoride varnish. This protects the teeth from the acid attacks of oral bacteria. Finally, you will be given important information on dental care and nutrition to help maintain optimal oral health.
